Robust, weather-resistant option
Better for covering a bigger area, like a park or a street.
Places including malls and sporting areas hold the potential for greater rewards
Helium Mobile is the next generation of The Peopleโs Network. Expanding on the functionality of the Helium network, Helium Mobile is a decentralized cellular carrier network that incentivizes community members to deploy and maintain the Helium Mobile Network infrastructure, creating a decentralized wireless (DeWi) network.
The largest cost and barrier to entry for new cellular network carriers is deploying base stations to build network coverage. Helium Mobile tackles this challenge by implementing MOBILE rewards for grassroots deployment and maintenance of base stations (Helium Mobile Hotspots). Deployers are rewarded in MOBILE tokens for providing network coverage and receive extra MOBILE for providing higher quality coverage, as well as receiving a portion of the data transfer fees (in MOBILE) for all data they process through deployed Hotspots.

Helium Mobile Hotspots provide dynamic Wi-Fi network coverage for Helium Mobile subscribers. Compared to previous cellular (CBRS) radios and Hotspots, Mobile Hotspots eliminate technical complexities and offer a more affordable solution which reduces the financial and technical barriers to entry for deployers.
In contrast to CBRS technology, Wi-Fi delivers an exceptional user experience for network subscribers, boasting high compatibility with mobile devices, supporting seamless switching between T-Mobile and Helium Mobile networks, and avoiding dropouts and roaming interruptions often associated with CBRS networks. Additionally, Wi-Fi offers robust performance, effortlessly achieving downstream bandwidths of up to 1.2Gbps.
Unlike Helium IoT Hotspots based on LoRa technology, Helium Mobile Hotspots utilize Wi-Fi technology which has a coverage range significantly smaller than that of LoRa. Consequently, Helium Mobile Indoor Hotspots are not recommended for deployment in homes as one might do with Helium IoT Hotspots. Instead, they are better suited for densely populated indoor areas, such as malls, pubs, and coffee shops, which limit optimal deployment locations.
In contrast to Indoor Hotspots, Helium Mobile Outdoor Hotspots are slightly more expensive but boast much larger coverage ranges. This means deployments are no longer limited to business establishments like pubs and coffee shops. Now, all Helium community members can become deployers and install Outdoor Hotspots on their rooftops, near windows, and most places pointing toward outdoor public areas such as roads and parks. This enables deployers to provide network coverage for friends, neighbors, and passersby allowing subscribers to earn MOBILE rewards in the process.
Naturally, areas with higher population concentrations such as malls, parks, and sporting areas always hold the potential for greater earnings.
